ANNOUNCEMENT Information, Innovation, Inspiration - Making the Connection Academic Library Association of Ohio Annual Conference 2003 Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Dublin, OH November 14, 2003 ALAO cordially invites you to join us for Information, Innovation, Inspiration - Making the Connection at our 29th annual conference. The conference will be held on November 14, 2003 at the Wyndham Dublin Hotel in Dublin, Ohio. Conference theme: This year's conference theme addresses new situations and demands that are forcing libraries today to rethink their role and transform their practices. Programs will be offered by colleagues who have risen to the challenges of diminishing resources and escalating costs while continuing to provide vital services using information, innovation and inspiration. In all, over 25 programs and thirteen poster sessions will be presented. In addition, interest group business meetings will be held along with a discussion session with our keynote speaker. Speaker: Sally Gardner Reed, Executive Director for Friends of Libraries, U.S.A. (FOLUSA), will be the keynote speaker. She will address the importance of defining and connecting with "community" to raise awareness about the importance of the library in academe and to raise financial and political support for the library. Ms. Reed is the author of numerous articles and books including Making the Case for Your Library and A Handbook for Successful Management. She has published on a variety of topics including library assessment, volunteers, librarianship, collection development, management and marketing. Her current and past professional affiliations include ALA, Virginia Library Association, Iowa Library Association, New England Library Association, Vermont Library Association, and Bibliographic Center for Research and Research Publications, Inc. She has served ALA in many capacities since 1980 and is currently a member of the Public Awareness Committee (2002-), @Your Library Task Force (2001-), and a past Executive Board Member (1997-2001). She is also serving on the Editorial Board for Journal of Library Administration. In 2000, Reed was presented the Herbert and Virginia White Award for Promotion of Libraries and Librarianship from ALA. Conference topics include: . Librarians in the Academy .
