How do you keep the New York Times (David Goodman) Ann Ercelawn 19 Sep 2003 13:35 UTC

Re: How do you keep the New York Times

The Proquest version is far superior to Lexis, of course, in having
full images and illustrations. However, it is subject to the same
copyright limitations as Lexis. These omissions are non-trivial,
and therefore there is presently only one choice: microfilm.
It is a disgraceful comment on the disputants that this
long-continuing failure to resolve the appropriate payment for
copyright prevents libraries and their users from employing
superior available technology. It also serves as a warning about
other publications. Publishers still withdraw items from
electronic versions: the recent problem with The Financial Times is
an example.
