International Journal of Comparative Sociology Thomas W. Evans 30 Oct 2003 16:24 UTC

I'm hoping someone out there can help me with this dilemma. We subscribe to
the journal "International Journal of Comparative Sociology" (issn:0020-7152
OCLC#1654008). Recently we got Vol. 2:3 (2003) of a title called "Comparative
Sociology" (issn:1569-1322 OCLC#48789055). I got to wondering if they were
related when we were claiming an issue of the first title, and they are, but
here is where it gets interesting. IJCS is not closed out as yet in OCLC, but
there is a 785 field for "Comparative Sociology". The bib record for
"Comparative Sociology" says it began with Vol. 1, no. 1 (2002)- and has a 780
field for "IJCS". The kicker is that we have 4 issues for Vol. 43 (2002)of
IJCS on our shelves, when it had supposedly changed title. Were the two
journals being published simultaneously with different titles and volumes? Is
the content the same? I don't know how else to explain this. Does anyone else
out there have this same problem, or does anyone have issues of Vol. 1 (2002)
for "Comparative Sociology"? Further, can anyone explain how this can be, or
what I should do about it? I hope I have explained this allright, and thank
you in advance for your consideration and help.
