Digital Resources Librarian The Colgate University Libraries seek detail oriented applicants for the position of Digital Resources Librarian. This is a full time, 12 month, non-tenured position with faculty status. This position reports to the Head of Collection Development. Full position description and additional information: http://exlibris.colgate.edu/staff/ehutton/DigitalReLib2004.html Responsibilities: The Digital Resources Librarian will assumes a leadership role in working with a cross section of library staff to select, acquire, implement, and provide access to electronic resources. Assists the Serials staff with ongoing maintenance of electronic resources including ensuring continued access throughout the life of subscriptions, claiming missing content, resolving access problems, and keeping up with changes in ejournal subscriptions. Analyzes publisher and consortial offers. Reviews licenses with the Head of Collection Development and negotiates changes as necessary. Manages license compliance issues and communicates restrictions to the community. Organizes, analyzes, and disseminates statistical reports on use and other variables and reviews literature for trends that will affect the Colgate Libraries. Coordinates access to electronic materials including the periodic batch loading of data from Serials Solutions or other serials management systems. Provides links between various access systems by registering our electronic journal subscriptions with various secondary ejournal publishers. Other duties include serving on the Reference desk (includes some evening and weekend work), liaison to one or more academic departments, collection development for designated subjects, and participation in library and university governance. Qualifications: Required: ALA -accredited MLS; experience working with serials or managing electronic resources; basic knowledge of MARC serials format; strong service orientation; excellent communication skills; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; proven organizational, analytical, and problem solving ability; familiarity with current trends in serials control technology. Desired: Experience or recent training in negotiating licenses; proven leadership in matters relating to electronic access; reference experience; a working knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, and a scripting language such as ASP, Perl or Visual Basic.
