Paul University of Vermont Libraries Position Vacancy Announcement Head, Collection Management Services, Bailey/Howe Library Bailey/Howe Library, University of Vermont, invites applications for the position of Head, Collection Management Services (CMS). The University of Vermont is located in Burlington, Vermont's largest city with a metropolitan population of over 125,000. Set on a hill overlooking Lake Champlain, UVM is nestled in the Champlain Valley between the Adirondack and Green Mountain ranges. The student body at UVM is composed of 7,400 undergraduates, and 1,600 graduate students. Bailey/Howe Library is looking for an energetic and creative librarian with proven leadership skills to provide planning and management for its collection management services operations including acquisitions, collection development, cataloging, serials management, collection verification, authority control, database management, end processing, and preservation. The successful candidate, who serves as a member of the Libraries' leadership team and reports directly to the Dean, will be expected to anticipate, analyze, and respond to trends in an evolving information environment. Supported by a dedicated department of 5 library faculty and 16 staff members, the successful candidate will review department policies, goals, and programs, and as a result, develop appropriate and collaborative strategies to encourage accomplishment and change within the working unit. In addition, the Head of CMS will participate in the development and expansion of the Libraries' digital collections and initiatives. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants are required to hold a MLS degree from an ALA accredited program or international equivalent; a minimum of 7 years professional library experience with progressively responsible administrative positions within collection management services in an academic library; extensive experience in one or more of the following areas: acquisitions, bibliographic control, collection development, or serials management; experience with current and emerging issues and practices in collection management services in academic libraries; demonstrated ability as a leader, motivator, and manager; experience with library information systems (e.g., OCLC, Endeavor); demonstrated record of accomplishments within the library profession including research, publication, service, and governance activities. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to be flexible and creative in a changing environment; experience with managing library faculty working under a collective bargaining agreement; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; experience with program or project implementation within complex organizations; commitment to building diverse collections to support an inclusive curriculum (e.g., racism in the U.S., women's studies, environmental studies, human rights and social justice). Salary is commensurate with experience, not less than $52,004 at the rank of Library Associate Professor or $66,631 at the rank of Library Professor. Benefit package includes TIAA/CREF or alternate plan, managed health care plan, and 22 days of annual paid vacation.
