Re: Binding Incomplete Volumes In-house Lori Hughes 15 Jun 2004 20:24 UTC

I would like to thank the many people who responded to my email about
binding incompletes in-house verses commercially. The majority of
respondents indicated that they are sending them to commercial bindery,
but collectively offered a few tips:

1. Wait a couple of years before sending (some actually suggested five
years), to allow for missing issues to "surface" or be replaced.
2. On the spine, note which issues are included (e.g. the spine would
read v.16 no.5-6 -- if no.4 is missing)
3. Insert a slip in the volume indicating missing issue(s) if the gap is
not noted on the spine.
4. Have commercial bindery indicate that the volume is incomplete with
something such as "INC" on the spine.

Thanks for the tips.

I have a follow up question. One person offered that once their Togic
supplies are exhausted, they will switch to the Fastback machine. Can
anyone else offer comments/input regarding the use of Fastback for
in-house binding?
