Clemson University Libraries.  Cataloging Unit Head.  Oversees
operation of Cataloging Unit; has overall responsibility for
cataloging all materials for the University Library System,
including outsourcing, database maintenance, government document
processing, and organization and operation of Remote Storage
Facility.  Administers 3 library faculty, 15 classified staff, and
students.  Provides training, prepares reports, participates in
Libraries’ Administrative Council.  This is a tenure-track faculty
position.  Reports to Dean of Libraries.  Qualifications:
Required: ALA-accredited MLS; minimum five years of increasingly
responsible, recent, relevant experience in an academic research
library, including cataloging in a variety of formats; thorough
knowledge of AACR2, USMARC, LCC, LCSH, and LCRI; knowledge of
digital format cataloging standards; extensive experience using an
integrated library system and a bibliographic utility, preferably
OCLC; significant knowledge of current standards, trends, and
emerging technologies in cataloging and bibliographic control; at
least 2 years experience supervising library technical services
staff; and evidence of the following abilities:  to provide strong
leadership and management, to interact positively and productively
in a collegial academic environment, to make use of excellent oral
and written communication skills, to provide training to staff
members, and to work collaboratively with individuals and groups in
a continuously changing environment.  Preferred: Experience with
system migration; experience working with consortia; knowledge of
metadata standards; experience cataloging foreign language
materials.  Salary range: $45,000 minimum.  Negotiable, depending
