i use her brain and hands and she goes back together very
nicely, thanks.

actually, she's a 20 hour a week grad student and i can use
her for 10 of those hours to check in periodicals (i can also
give the GA's searching to do while they are at the reference
desk. that really helps.)

if we didn't have grad students and the extra help guy (paid
out of the student budget) who helps with binding, i'd be
doomed. The ACES library is one of the 3 largest departmental
libraries on campus (and the university of illinois library
is one of the largest academic libraries in the country) and
we have 2 full time staff, one part time staff, 2 librarians,
and 2-4 graduate assistants, plus student help.  we are open
74.5 hours per week.  i really appreciate having grad
students and undergrads who are willing to work.
