Please post the following job ad: Head, Bibliographic Management Location: Louisiana Tech University, Prescott Memorial Library Required Qualifications: ALA accredited Masters with 3 to 5 years experience in an academic library. Cataloging experience with Library of Congress classification system and knowledge of Superintendent of Government Documents classification system. Experience with automated library systems. Supervisory and management experience. Excellent English language skills. Excellent communication skills. Desired Qualifications: Experience with SIRSI Unicorn and OCLC systems. Knowledge of a modern European language. Ability to assist with ordering process. Duties: Plan, direct and supervise Bibliographic Management. Establishes standards, policies, and procedures. Provides leadership in implementing access technologies. Performs original cataloging/classification of materials in all formats and maintains authority control in the library catalog, using MARC or other appropriate schema. Responsible for oversight of government publications processing and access. Ensure accurate bibliographic records, maintain accurate records of library holdings, and provide monthly and annual departmental statistics. Participates in Library and University committees and contributes to Library planning. Provide reference service to Library users when required to work at Reference Information Desk. Engage in research, service and professional development. Supervise a staff of 4 library paraprofessionals and 2 professional positions. Louisiana Tech University is a selective admission public university with 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The main campus is located in Ruston, a city of 20,600 in the piney hills of North Louisiana and conveniently located between the two metropolitan areas of Monroe and Shreveport and two recreational state parks. Ruston is a lovely small town with a low cost environment. Prescott Memorial Library is a member of the LOUIS statewide library consortium. The library has a staff of 27. The library houses over 2,000,000 items, is a regional U.S. government documents depository, state depository and is a member of SOLINET and OCLC. Salary: Starting salary of $45,000.
