Cataloger for Serials and Electronic Resources
[Entry-Level]

The Cataloging Librarian performs original and complex copy cataloging,
including description and subject analysis, of print and electronic
materials that are both serial and monographic in nature. Participates
in the building and maintenance of the Libraries’ name and subject
authority files. All professional catalogers within the NCSU Libraries
work with copy cataloging staff to provide LC subject headings and
classification for copy lacking these access points, and to provide
feedback on difficult copy cataloging decisions. Participates in library
planning, serves on library-wide committees, task forces, and teams.
Reports to the Principal Cataloger.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated interest in and grasp
of current cataloging/metadata issues, as expressed by graduate
coursework or practical experience. Proven effectiveness working
independently and in teams is required. Outstanding written and oral
communications and interpersonal skills are essential. Evidence of
ability for ongoing professional development and contribution. An
ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent advanced degree in library or
information science is required. Salary: competitive and commensurate
with experience, minimum $40,000
