Assistant Editor

Neurobiology of Lipids is seeking an Assistant Editor to join its Editorial team. The minimum qualification for this no-monies educational part-time remote position is an enrollment in a PhD Program (2+ year) in a relevant area of biomedical research. This is a great opportunity for a talented student to expand his/her interest and play a critical role in the research community away from the bench/class.

As an assistant editor, you would be responsible for the selection of the noteworthy articles published in other journals, oversee editing of accepted manuscripts,  preparing news stories and/or lay summaries, and perform the subject news mining. The key qualities should be wide scientific interest and the ability to think independently/critically about current biomedical sciences and neuroscience theories. The successful candidate should be able to work independently as well as in a team.

The entire editoral communication will be electronic. The amount of work will be flexibly arranged to avoid interference with your enrollment in a Graduate Program at your University.

Applications will be held confidentially and will be considered on an ongoing basis. Research Assistant Editor

Neurobiology of Lipids is seeking Research Assistant Editors to join its Editorial team. The minimum qualification for this no-monies educational part-time remote position is an enrollment in a PhD Program (2+ year; or BCS/MS Program enrollment for software development project) in a relevant area of biomedical research, computer/library science and/or publishing/Internet technology. This is a great opportunity for a talented student to expand his/her interest and play a critical role in the research/publishing community away from the bench/class.

As a research assistant editor, you would be responsible for the development of the assigned project. The key qualities should be a persuaion in the future of a not-for-profit scientific publishing, and the ability to think independently/critically about current science/theories and publishing system. The successful candidate should be able to work independently as well as in a team.

The entire editoral communication will be electronic. The amount of work and project duration will be flexibly arranged to avoid interference with your enrollment in a Graduate Program at your University. The currently available projest  are:

Project 1: Research of Word-to-XML (free or low cost for non-profit use) conversion software, and its development/customization to meet PubMedCentral Journal Publishing DTD. Development of the Microsoft Word Template to integrate/automate the manuscript preparation, submission, publishing, and the article XML conversion.

Project 2: Research of Content Management Software (free or low cost for non-profit use), and its development/customization to meet the needs of a scientific journal publishing.

Project 3: Research of National/International Patents on the subject of the journal scope, and development of the journal pages on patents.
