SUPERVISORY LIBRARIAN (American Law Research)
Congressional Research Service, Washington DC

Do not miss this exciting opportunity to join the Knowledge Services
Group (KSG) of The Congressional Research Services (CRS). This newly
created division is seeking an innovative candidate with management and
legal research experience for the position of Supervisory Librarian to
head its American Law Consulting Section.  This unit works closely with
the CRS American Law Division, which responds to congressional requests
for legal analysis and information involving federal and state statutory
and case law. KSG information professionals advise and inform US
Congress and CRS analytical staff by providing expert on-demand
information research, information products and resources, product
updating, information resource management, briefings and seminars,
consultations on research methodologies, and customized training on
information research and resources for individuals and groups.

The Supervisory Librarian will lead and inspire staff to accomplish the
work of the section; anticipate and identify the changing needs of
Congress; use authoritative resources and professional contacts with
expertise in the field; collaborate with other CRS managers; and develop
information products and services to meet the needs of congressional
clients and CRS research divisions.

The ideal candidate should have management expertise, training and
marketing skills, and expertise in reviewing legal research, including
writing. The individual should also possess knowledge of information
resources, library science principles and legal analysis to respond to
the range of questions that may emerge from the legislative and
representational needs of Members of Congress or inquiries arising out
of federal, state, and/or international law. Prior employment in a
high-energy, team-oriented library environment is also desirable.
