Re: Cancellation public display note DuBose, Stefanie 03 Feb 2005 20:19 UTC
Hi Buddy, We use the acquisitions control field in Horizon to indicate "not currently received, which is the status in our OPAC." We also have the option of a public note that we're considering using to indicate that the subscription changed from print to electronic. MFHD has a field for status (currently received, not currently received, ceased, etc.), and many systems that don't use MFHD also have fields that allow for this coding. My question if you are using some sort of field for this information (whether it is MFHD or not) in the checkin record, are you taking advantage of that in your OPAC displays? We are in a shared consortium of 3 libraries, so we state "Law Library" so that patrons know that the cancellation applies to our library only. Additionally, all of our alternate formats (electronic, microform) are on separate MFHDs on the same bib (print) record, so the note does not need to state the format. Please let me know if you have any questions. Good luck, Andrea Got Questions? Ask a Librarian. Andrea Rabbia Technical Services Librarian H. One example is "Cancelled for 2005."
