Re: Cancellation public display note Mykie Howard 04 Feb 2005 16:09 UTC
Yep, I'm checking into how we can get the MFHD 008 fields to display. We are a Voyager library, and it must be somewhere in the configuration files, which I don't have access to. The only thing is that the other two Voyager libraries I've worked in didn't allow those to display either, so we're trying to figure out how to do it. I'm meeting w/our systems librarian on this. Any other Voyager libraries out there who allow the MFHD 008 codes to display and could offer advice on what they did to get them to show up? I'm going to e-mail Voy-L too. MFHD has a field for status (currently received, not currently received, ceased, etc.), and many systems that don't use MFHD also have fields that allow for this coding. My question if you are using some sort of field for this information (whether it is MFHD or not) in the checkin record, are you taking advantage of that in your OPAC displays? We are in a shared consortium of 3 libraries, so we state "Law Library" so that patrons know that the cancellation applies to our library only. Additionally, all of our alternate formats (electronic, microform) are on separate MFHDs on the same bib (print) record, so the note does not need to state the format. One example is "Cancelled for 2005."
