Re: subscription agent service fees question Polakowski, Elizabeth J. 24 Jun 2005 13:46 UTC

The mix of your journals makes a difference as to the service fee. I don't
believe we are permitted to quote our current service fee in public.
Faxon/divine had been charging us under 4% a few years ago but that shot up
significantly when we had to find a new vendor.

When we were getting bids, one prominent vendor's quote was for 17%.
Clearly they charge much less for other collections. We went with another
vendor who was more reasonable. My advice is to get more than one bid.

We are a medium sized academic with 570 current titles. We have a 2%
service fee with Ebsco

I am trying to determine what a reasonable service fee would be for my
library's title mix. Can anyone help me out with this?
