ENVIRONMENT*:* The Florida Center for Library Automation (FCLA) provides support services to the libraries of Florida's 11 public universities. FCLA is located in Gainesville and administered by the University of Florida. The services are based on a single, shared installation of the Aleph 500 Library Management System (LMS) and FCLA-developed software. Information about FCLA can be found at http://www.fcla.edu. FCLA is in the process of a multi-year transition from NOTIS to Aleph * *JOB SUMMARY: * *FCLA seeks a dynamic individual to work in the rapidly evolving field of library technology and automation in a team environment, assisting the implementation, ongoing support and upgrading of Aleph 500 for the state university libraries' staff. Assists in the support of the Aleph system operations including, but not limited to, configuration table and staff GUI client maintenance, and data loading using both Aleph and FCLA tools. This position supports technical services functions - Cataloging, Authority Control, Acquisitions, and Serials Control. As necessary, works with the state university libraries' Technical Services Planning Committee, its subcommittees and the State University Libraries/Community College Joint LMS Implementation Committee. Investigates related technologies and assists in the development of all FCLA services as appropriate. Other duties as assigned RESPONSIBILITIES: · Work with individual libraries and the state university library committees in the development of workflows and strategies for effective use of the Aleph 500 system. · Provide support for libraries' Technical Services units in collaboration with FCLA, ExLibris and library staff, as appropriate. · Work with the Aleph team to develop training tools, workshops and documentation using new and emerging technologies · Work with library staff to aid in the planning, configuring and performing of various types of data loads. · Share information with library staff through presentations to various state university libraries' committees and other meetings. · Assist in the planning and coordination of activities related to ongoing upgrades of Aleph 500. · Visit state university libraries as appropriate to fulfill assigned responsibilities. · Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Masters degree in library and/or information science from an ALA-accredited program; four years library experience; operational familiarity with cataloging, acquisitions and serials control; experience with LMS systems and training procedures (preferably Aleph); excellent organizational and analytical skills; flexibility and adaptability; valid Florida drivers license or ability to get one. Written and oral communication skills a must. Position will require in-state travel. RANK & SALARY: Assistant-in-Libraries; non-tenured; salary commensurate with experience; starting salary: $43,000. BENEFITS: Twelve month appointment on an annual contract. Twenty?two days vacation, 4 days administrative leave, thirteen days sick-leave and nine paid holidays per year.
