POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT Serials Librarian Texas A & M University-Kingsville, a member of the Texas A&M University System and a majority Hispanic state-supported institution, seeks a dynamic Serials Librarian responsible for acquisitions, cataloging, and processing of serials in all formats (including SUDOC classified government documents). Manages ordering, receiving, binding, fiscal control, and cataloging of serial publications; evaluates license agreements for electronic journal subscriptions; participates in vendor selection. Supervises and trains two full-time library assistants. Participates in general reference duty and may have other duties as assigned. Reports to Head of Technical Services. REQUIRES: Accredited American Library Association MLS or MLIS degree from a regionally accredited institution or university; knowledge of current trends in serials control, especially electronic journal publishing; effective communication and problem solving skills; ability to collaborate on team projects; ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. DESIRED: Experience with acquisitions, cataloging, and processing of serials in all formats, including electronic journals and government documents in an academic library environment; supervisory and leadership skills; effective training skills. Experience negotiating with vendors/aggregators concerning contracts and licenses for electronic journals and databases.
