Salary: $4,738 - $5,758 per month

The California State Library is California's public research library that helps a diverse people, their governments and their libraries meet their knowledge and information needs. Established by the first state legislature in 1850, the State Library has a diverse collection, with strengths in public policy, California history and culture, federal and
state documents, and genealogy and local history. Its databases include 1.3 million bibliographic records; 230,000 authority records; 2 million item records; and 20,000 serial records.

Under the general direction of the Bureau Chief for State Library Services (SLS) the Head of the Technical Services Section at the California State Library (CSL) provides leadership and management services in the areas of acquisitions, serials, and cataloging of the CSL's multiple and varied information collections using the DRA (Sirsi) integrated library system and other electronic systems as needed. Incumbent plans, organizes and directs the activities involved in all of the Technical Services areas. Incumbent serves as an assistant to the SLS Bureau Chief to provide administrative support and special project management and leadership as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Equivalent to graduation from a college or university and completion of a graduate degree from an accredited library school, and one of the following:

One year in the California state service performing professional
ibrarian duties at a level of responsibility equivalent to that of a
Senior Librarian or a Supervising Librarian I.

Or II

Three years of experience performing professional librarian duties at a
level of responsibility equivalent to that of a Librarian.

Or III

Four years of increasingly responsible and varied professional library
experience such as having charge of a small library or subordinate section of a major library, at least one year of which shall have been comparable in level of responsibility to a Supervising Librarian I.
