Re: AtoZ lists and password access John Lucas 03 Feb 2006 19:13 UTC

Hello Berndette and all,

First, How are you accessing NEJM with a password? With whom are you
getting it? I thought the Massachusetts Medical Society still only
mandates 5 specific computers within the library with static IP
addresses. Do you have a site license with them?

Doesn't Ebsco AtoZ have a link with the portal agent you are using for
the site with the password? There are 38 on now. Once you have
identified the route used, and it is not one of those, you can request
that AtoZ add it on. You could then delete from AtoZ, the portal agent
EbscoHost EJS.

Is your Ebsco AtoZ list also on a secure page? If so, you can use the
Notes & Icons area to create a note with your password and keep the
EbscoHost EJS. We have our AtoZ page on secure web page (don't ask me
how because it is a full time job just keeping up with problems and the
like). Only authorized individuals can apply for username/password to
access the library's secure databases etc. When they have a u/p, then
they can get to the database page, e-jrls page, etc. where the passwords
are located.

Have you contacted Joe or Jane at AtoZ feedback? I have found that
they are always helpful, although at times, my trying to explain the
specifics is not so clear.

We subscribe to EBSCO's AtoZ, and EbscoHost EJS and we have come up
with
a dilemma. As an example, we access our online subscription to New
England Journal of Medicine with a password. From our online catalog,
we redirect patrons to a secure web page which contains the password
and
a link to the journal. However, if a patron accesses this journal
through our AtoZ list, they get routed through EbscoHost EJS to the
publisher's site, but are denied access without a password. There is
no
way for them to know where this password resides. I hope I've managed
to explain this clearly. Does anyone have a solution to this?
