POSITION: SFX and MetaLib Support Specialist #00022398 REFERENCE: 035928 RANK: Assistant In Libraries REPORTS TO: FCLA SFX MetaLib Project Leader ENVIRONMENT: The Florida Center for Library Automation (FCLA) provides support services to the libraries of the 11 state universities. FCLA is located in Gainesville and is administered by the University of Florida. Information about FCLA can be found at http://www.fcla.edu. JOB SUMMARY: Working in a team environment, assist with the ongoing support of the ExLibris SFX OpenUrl link resolving service and the MetaLib portal/federated search module for the state university libraries within Florida. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Provides first line of support for SFX and MetaLib for state university library staff. Resolve problems identified via problem tracking software, email and telephone. Document and communicate solutions. • Works with ExLibris support staff to resolve problems and answer questions that cannot be answered locally. Document and communicate solutions. • Works with state university libraries to determine optimal workflow; interface design options and to configure the systems to support desired outcomes. • Assists in the planning and coordination of activities related to SFX and MetaLib developments and upgrades. Develop and implement testing strategies related to system use and changes. • Coordinates as needed with the FCLA implementation of Verde, the ExLibris electronic resource management system. Also serves as second line support for Verde. • Develops and conducts training workshops as needed. Visits libraries as appropriate to fulfill assigned responsibilities. • Shares information with and makes presentations to various state university library groups. • Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Masters degree in library and/or information science from an ALA-accredited program and two years library experience, or a Bachelor’s Degree and four years library experience; excellent organizational, problem solving and analytical skills. Written and oral communication skills a must. Will need a valid Florida driver’s license or the ability to get one and be willing to drive as needed for required in-state travel. Highly desirable: previous experience working with library electronic resources, link resolver software, federated search software or related service area; experience using html, cascading style sheets, user interface design; experience with editing and creating files in a UNIX environment,. RANK & SALARY: Assistant-In-Libraries; non-tenured; salary commensurate with education and experience; minimum annual salary of $43,000. BENEFITS: Twelve month appointment on an annual contract. Twenty two days vacation, 4 days administrative leave, thirteen days sick-leave and nine paid holidays per year. Retirement plan options, group health plan, and life insurance available.
