agreement ***

Portland Customer Services is pleased to announce that it has signed an
agreement to handle journal subscription fulfilment and online journal
hosting on behalf of Earthscan. The fulfilment agreement will take effect
with the renewal of journal subscriptions for 2007.

Based in London, Earthscan (http://www.earthscan.co.uk) publishes 6
journals and is one of the leading publishers in the field of sustainable
development. Portland Customer Services will provide online access to the
full text of all six journals starting with Climate Policy in August 2006,
and the other journals over the following months.

Publishing Director of Earthscan, Jonathan Sinclair Wilson, said, “We are
delighted to be moving our journals to Portland whose service appears to be
excellent and exactly tailored to our needs. We are looking forward to
working with them.”

Managing Director of Portland Press, Rhonda Oliver said, “Portland Customer

access control effectively. We do this using our own electronic publishing
system Sirius-EPS which incorporates a well developed process for handling
electronic subscriptions including management of access control. Earthscan,
by choosing our service, has demonstrated its confidence in our staff and
systems.”

This agreement brings the number of journals handled by Portland Customer
Services to over 120. Portland Customer Services is the fulfilment and
distribution arm of Portland Press Ltd, the wholly owned subsidiary of the
Biochemical Society. In addition to handling journal fulfilment, PCS also
handles book order processing, membership fulfilment, online journal
hosting and conference registration on behalf of academic societies and
publishers.
