Re: Atlantic Monthly numbering Jason Ford 12 Sep 2006 23:49 UTC

Kay kay! This is a little off of the subject, but it has to do with the same
periodical.
The Atlantic Monthly's title is no longer Atlantic Monthly on the cover. The
last issue to be entitled Atlantic Monthly was Dec 2003, thereafter it
became just The Atlantic. Our bib record still refers to it as Atlantic
Monthly, and it seems everyone talking about it on this list serve does as
well. I know that sometimes it isn't considered a title change if a
publisher decides at one point to include the frequency of a periodical in
its title, but then decides to remove the frequency from the title at a
later date.
That being said, does anyone know if it was an official title change? The
publisher, according to the information on the inside cover, still appears
to be the Atlantic Monthly.
Has anyone checked with the Library of Congress?
Just thought I'd get some feedback before I check with them myself.

I have a note to myself that says "June 13 2006 Serialst posting: going
to 1 vol. per year (was 2 vol, 5 issues each). '2006 is v.297, with ten
numbered issues: Jan/Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Jul/Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov,
Dec. Next year, 2007, v.298, will follow the same pattern.'"

Was I dreaming?

Hi, Folks -

The July/August 2006 issue of Atlantic Monthly had a printing error,
making it v. 297 no. 6, when it should have been v. 298 no. 1.
Accordingly, the next issue, September 2006, is v. 298 no. 2.

(I can't remember if this info has been posted earlier - short-term
memory is going!!)

Thanks to Rachel at the publisher's office for the clarification.
