TWO CATALOG LIBRARIAN POSITIONS
(Digital Resources Cataloger and Digital/Tangible Media Cataloger)

The University of Missouri-Columbia Libraries seeks qualified candidates for two entry level catalog librarian positions. Principal duties for both positions will include cataloging of digital resources. One will focus on online resources: purchases, requests from selectors, and institutional repository materials. The other position will focus on special collections materials, both tangible and those digitized from local collections. The primary focus for each position will be the secondary focus of the other, and both may work together on priority assignments. We will employ a single search process to fill both positions.

Incumbents in both positions will perform original and complex OCLC member cataloging employing Anglo-American Cataloging Rules and rule interpretations, Library of Congress Subject Headings and classification practices as appropriate, OCLC, MERLIN (the local Innovative Interfaces consortium), and local cataloging standards and practices. Non-MARC metadata schemes will be employed to best match the discovery and access requirements of the resources being treated.

*DIGITAL RESOURCES CATALOGER
Digital Resources Cataloger. The focus of this position is on online resources, including institutional repository materials and record sets. Reports to the Head of the Digital and Continuing Resources Cataloging Unit, and may receive functional supervision from the Head of the Monograph Cataloging Unit, depending on the project. The incumbent provides bibliographic control and access to online resources: monographs, serials, and integrating resources, including institutional repository materials and record sets. This position also will have responsibility for cataloging print serials. A secondary focus may include the cataloging of rare and special collections materials, to include their digital or other media counterparts.

*DIGITAL/TANGIBLE MEDIA CATALOGER
Digital/Tangible Media Cataloger. The focus of this position is on tangible media and their digital reproductions. Reports to the Head of the Monograph Cataloging Unit and may receive functional supervision from the Head of the Digital and Continuing Resources Cataloging Unit, depending on the project. The incumbent provides bibliographic control and access to tangible media and digital resources. This includes monographs in print (particularly rare and special collections materials) and those that are reproduced in digital formats from our collections. A secondary focus may include the cataloging of online resources, including institutional repository materials and record sets.

*QUALIFICATONS
Master's degree from an ALA-accredited program or the equivalent. A successful candidate must be self motivated, have strong analytical and problem solving skills, and be able to think critically, deal with constant change, and work well independently and collaboratively.

Preference will be given to candidates with the strongest combination of these additional qualifications: Cataloging experience: electronic resources, serials, monographs, special collections and/or other media materials * Course work or evidence of continuing education in relevant cataloging and/or metadata activities * Experience using OCLC and Innovative Interfaces software * Proven ability to work productively and collaboratively with colleagues and others * Knowledge of, or experience using non-MARC metadata schemes (EAD, METS, MODS, TEI, Dublin Core, etc.) * Excellent oral and written communication skills * Demonstrated knowledge of Anglo American Cataloging Rules, Library of Congress subject headings and classification, and the MARC21 format * Experience with digitizing projects and/or awareness of national standards and best practice for digitizing materials * Familiarity with, detailed knowledge of, or willingness to learn, mark-up languages (XML, SGML, HTML) * Knowledge of one or more European foreign languages.

*SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary: $34,000 minimum for twelve months, commensurate with education and experience. Benefits include vested retirement after five years, University medical benefits package, and other normal fringe benefits including 75% tuition waiver.
