State Street Jackson, MS 39210 601-974-1083 Coordinator of Acquisitions and Cataloging Millsaps College Library Jackson, Mississippi Millsaps College Library <http://library.millsaps.edu/> seeks a Coordinator of Acquisitions and Cataloging to lead a small unit responsible for the acquisition of library materials and resources, serials control, cataloging, and shelving. This professional position supervises one professional cataloger, one full time staff assistant, and several students. The position works closely with departmental library representatives and library staff to select and order library materials; accepts and evaluates gift books; manages print and online journals; works with vendors and processes invoices for payment; monitors the acquisitions budget and prepares reports as needed; oversees shelving and shifting. The Coordinator works closely with the Coordinator of Public Services and other staff and reports to the College Librarian. All librarians serve at the reference desk one night per week and rotate weekends and Friday evenings. The library has 5 professionals and 4 staff members serving a college population of 1400 students, faculty and staff. The collection contains over 200,000 print volumes, a wide variety of online resources, the College and the Mississippi United Methodist Archives, and a number of special collections. The Library is a member of Solinet. Librarians at Millsaps College have twelve-month appointments, faculty rank, and titles, but are not tenured. Qualifications: Required: ALA-accredited master's degree; experience in acquisitions or serials management; aptitude for detail-oriented work; strong organizational and communication skills; excellent public service attitude; ability to work in a small, close-knit environment with library staff, faculty, and students. Preferred: supervisory experience in an academic library; working knowledge of Sirsi acquisitions and serials modules; management of online journal collections.
