We use Bridgeport. We have a 4 week turnaround time. Some other colleges
have a 2 week turnaround for regular binding. It depends on the amount of
volumes in each shipment. Preservation photocopying is a separate matter,
done by one person at the bindery, therefore it does take longer.
When I first started doing the bindery shipments, I was sent a packet of info
from Bridgeport. There is a standard layout for spine labeling. Anything that
deviates from the standard layout is an extra charge as I imagine it involves
that the changes are done by hand. Sometimes I get grad students who have
specific requests for the labeling of their bound theses copies and they do
pay an extra fee.
We have never been unhappy with their work.

We use Bridgeport for preservation photocopying of decaying books. The
completed work is handsome. However, they have been, as a rule, fairly slow
to return materials dispatched for that purpose. I am assuming from the
comments of others that they may be on a fairly regular schedule with regard
to the return of periodical issues bound.

Personally, I like to have some options as to how the lettering will appear
on the spine (fonts and positioning). Mutual provides for that in their
standard work orders. The instructions I have sent to Bridgeport in this
regard were sand in their gears. IW
