SERIALS LIBRARIAN Ohio Wesleyan University seeks an individual interested in managing all aspects of the Serials Department in Technical Services of the Library. Reports to the Head of Technical Services. The major responsibilities of the position include acquiring, cataloging (original/copy cataloging), processing, and fiscal accounting for serials in all formats, including electronic journals. Manages ongoing daily periodicals operations such as maintenance of the automated serials system records, subscription renewals, new orders, cancellations, invoices, claims and all related correspondence. Responsible for the binding of serials publications, communicates with the serials agent and vendors, updates the Union List, and supervises work-study students. Deals with collection development issues for serials. Participates as a member of the Technical Services staff. Serves as library liaison to academic department(s), participates in the reference rotation schedule four hours per week including weekends when school is in session and attends professional conferences and meetings related to serials. Required qualifications: ALA-accredited MLS. Aptitude for financial management and analyses and attention to detail. New MLS graduates are encouraged to apply. Preferred qualifications: experience with Innovative Interfaces, Inc. online library system and OCLC. Ability to monitor national trends in serials, to supervise work-study students, and to lift approximately 35 lbs. Proficient at using Microsoft Office Suite products, e.g. Excel. Must be capable of working successfully individually and as a team member. Strong service orientation and ability to work effectively with students, faculty and staff. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in an environment of rapid change. New MLS graduates are encouraged to apply.
