Below is our library's policy for claiming missing issues.

CLAIMS *MISSING, DELAYED OR DAMAGED CURRENT JOURNALS

1.  The library assistant for serials is responsible for checking the
visible kardex file on a timely basis, usually monthly, to report
missing or delayed issues of journals to the subscription agent.
Damaged issues are noted at time of receipt and claimed immediately
according to the procedures established by the subscription agent.

2.  The library assistant follows the procedures established by the
journal for making claims.  Documentation, including the date the claim
is made, is retained in a file.  The file of claims is frequently
reviewed to monitor the resolution of claims.  Unresolved claims are
re-submitted.

3.  When a claim has not been resolved, the library assistant consults
the library manager for recommended action.

4.  The library assistant maintains a list of missing journals and
seeks to have them replaced in a cost-           effective manner.
Currently, the library uses Backmed.

I would be very interested in knowing how your library handles CLAIMS
for
missed issues.

Do you claim missed issues?  How often?  Who processes the claims?  Do
you
use a subscription agent?  Which one(s)?  Do you ever claim DIRECT from
the
publisher?

If you do NOT claim missed issues, what procedures are in place in
your
library for this matter.
