1. ACQUISITIONS LIBRARIAN, New Mexico State University Library

The New Mexico State University Library invites applications for the
position of Acquisitions Librarian (College Assistant Professor).  Req.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  With the budget management team, plans, develops and
manages aspects of library materials budget ($2+ million); works closely
with collection development coordinator and subject specialists
regarding budgetary aspects of collection development; in consultation
with the department head develops and implements policies, standards,
goals, and procedures to continuously improve workflow; provides
leadership and support for the Acquisitions Unit; conducts performance
reviews and provides input for merit assessments. As a college faculty
member of the library, is responsible for achieving in the areas of
librarianship and service.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  MLS from an ALA-accredited program or
equivalent; ability to multitask and manage detail; strong written and
oral communication skills; ability to work in cross-organizational
collaboration; strong critical thinking skills.

PREFERRED:  Professional experience in mid-to-large size academic or
research library; demonstrated budget or accounting experience; previous
management experience; knowledge of integrated library system,
preferably Voyager; proficiency with Excel and Access; experience with
vendor negotiations, licensing agreements, and electronic invoicing.

2.  CATALOGING UNIT HEAD, New Mexico State University Library The New
Mexico State University Library invites applications for the position of
Technical Services Cataloging Unit Head, Assistant or Associate
Professor.  Req. 2007010636

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Performs original and complex shared cataloging in
all formats, including electronic, in accordance with AACR2R, OCLC input
standards, LCSH, and LC Classification; contributes headings to the
national authority file as a NACO contributor; performs database
maintenance in Voyager; serves as cataloging resource person concerning
database maintenance and workflow issues. In consultation with
department head develops and implements policies, standards, goals, and
procedures to continuously improve workflow; provides leadership and
support for the Cataloging Unit; conducts performance reviews and
provides input for merit assessments; resolves cataloging questions from
other Librarians.  As a member of the library faculty, is responsible
for achieving in the areas of librarianship, scholarship and creative
activity, and service.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: MLS from an ALA-accredited program or
equivalent; Minimum of one year experience cataloging a variety of
formats; knowledge of AACR2R, MARC formats, Library of Congress
classification system, and Library of Congress subject headings;
knowledge of trends in cataloging and national standards for
bibliographic control; experience using a bibliographic utility;
previous supervisory experience. Preferred:  Professional experience in
mid-to-large size academic or research library; knowledge of integrated
library system, preferably Voyager; working knowledge of at least one
foreign language, preferably Spanish; familiarity with trends in
changing data coding standards such as Dublin Core, metadata, etc
