Microfilm Splicer Casey Roberson 23 Feb 2009 18:06 UTC

Hello all,

I am brand new to this list.

Our library is hoping to condense our microfilm collection by splicing consecutive journal volume reels together. I've done this at another library, and I figured it would be simple to locate the proper equipment for the project. I've searched for a microfilm splicer for a couple of weeks now--most of what I find are large pieces of equipment, or "ultrasonic" splicers in the $2-3 thousand range. I'm thinking of a simple little piece of equipment that you use both to cut the film and hold it in place while you apply tape.

I found a discussion from this list from about 10 years ago online about finding microfilm splicing equipment, so I figured this would be a good place to ask. Can anyone direct me to where we can purchase the right kind of microfilm splicer (and tape tabs)?

Thanks,

Casey Roberson
