Here's a warm, fuzzy thanks to all who replied to my inquiry regarding
the barcoding of journal backfiles -- both privately and via this
listserv.  It appears that there is a variety of approaches, depending
on the size of the collection and the available staff.  Some use
laptops; some haul the volumes to cataloging and back to the shelves;
some use double sets of barcodes.   I am sharing most of these messages
with our cataloger.  I'm sure it will be a joint project between his
department and mine.
