PCC practices for online series Les Hawkins 03 Jun 2009 19:00 UTC

At the April 30, 2009 meeting of the CONSER/BIBCO Operations Committee
(OpCo), representatives supported pursuing a Program for Cooperative
Cataloging (PCC) practice for online series title qualifiers and creation
of authority records for online series. The practice posted:
http://www.loc.gov/acq/conser/Online-Series.pdf is based on OpCo
discussion and subsequent consultations with LC's Policy and Standards
Division.

The PCC discussions about online series were an outgrowth of the work of
the Provider-Neutral E-Monograph Record Task Group. Approval of the
provider-neutral record guidelines for e-monographs was also confirmed at
the OpCo meeting. The implementation date for the provider-neutral record
guidelines is July 17, 2009. The final report of the Provider-Neutral
E-Monograph Record Task Group is available
from: http://www.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/bibco/PN-Final-Report.pdf

Next steps:

practice posted at: http://www.loc.gov/acq/conser/Online-Series.pdf are

sent to the Provider Neutral Record Task Group chairs Becky Culbertson
(rculbertson@ucsd.edu) or George Prager (PragerG@exchange.law.nyu.edu)

Committee is expected by June 26th 2009.
