I also update our print and microfilm holdings myself in Serials Solutions. If I am updating one or two titles, I do it the way Barbara describes below. If I have more changes (like the person who creates a new list 3 times a year), you can batch load the table into Serials Solutions. This essentially overwrites your previous library specific holdings in Serials Solutions.  It is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. I had a one-on-one training session with someone from Serials Solutions the first time I wanted to do it. You can set this up and have them walk you through the process. After that, it is pretty simple and all changes show up the next day.

It is possible now to update your print holdings in the Serials Solutions website.  I myself have been doing it since February 2008 and find it so much easier (and faster) than sending them a spreadsheet.  I attended one of the Serials Solutions webinars on print holdings management to learn how to do it.  To update, add, or delete a title, I go through the Data Management link in the Client Center.  I find the print holdings database and click on the number in the column indicating how many titles are in the database.  Then, I search for a title in the box in order to update or delete it.  To add a title, click on "Add Title."  Updating titles in Serials Solutions actually does not take a lot of time for me.  I doublecheck a few days later to make sure the information is correct, though.  Updating OCLC holdings is a little more laborious because I am trying to do level 4 holdings when possible.

We also have Serials Solutions.   My list which I send to them with updates is in an Excel file.  I go through the list of items which are current every three months, see if any are not arriving in checkin  ( using claims in Horizon ).  I use my list of recent cancellations and check if titles have stopped.   If the checkin pattern needs to be deleted for ceased items I do that, and add an  866 field for each format we have ( microfilm, fiche, bound ) in the bibliographic record.  I change the stop date in the Excel file.   When finished with Horizon and Serials Solutions, I take my list of changes and go to OCLC and update those records.
