Re: Advocate / Out Hill, Katherine 25 Feb 2010 19:06 UTC

I was under the impression that The Advocate was being folded into Out. Now the supplement comes; and the numbering continues as if the title hadn't changed. The title change indicates that it is a major change, right? (as I seem to remember from Serialst messages of old). And sure enough, OCLC lists them as two separate ISSNs. Usually when we get a supplement, we don't treat it separately, but consider it part of the issue it came with, and shelve them together. This thing is neither fish nor fowl.

Steve's comment about the content got my attention. I really haven't looked at Out. We need to consider whether we want it at all. So my next question would be, are there other titles that might do a better job of replacing The Advocate? Or that we should be subscribing to anyway for this browsing collection?

Meanwhile, I'll be interested to hear how others are handling the check-in for both these titles.
