The Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) is holding its annual
meeting June 1-3, 2011 at the Westin Copley Place in Boston, MA.  The
timely conference
theme: "It's What Counts: How Data Transforms Our World."

The SSP Annual Meeting is a recognized and welcoming gathering place
for those in publishing, libraries, and related organizations to
convene and discuss areas of common interest
within scholarly communication.  The conference's concurrent sessions
include cutting edge information from recognized authorities, the
premeeting seminars allow attendees to gain
in-depth knowledge on important topics, and the Exhibitor's
Marketplace includes vendors with up-to-date information on relevant
services and products.  Previous attendees consistently
report that the plentiful opportunities for informal networking are
one of the highlights.

The Opening Keynote presenter is  Jon Orwant, Director of Engineering
at Google Books, and author of Quantitative Analysis of Culture Using
Millions of Digitized Books.  John Palfrey will
present the Plenary Address.  Dr. Palfrey, Professor of Law at Harvard
University, is the co-author of Born Digital, Understanding the First
Generation of Digital Natives.

Concurrent sessions include speakers knowledgeable about e-books,
preserving and curating research data, usability testing, a
"start-ups" showcase, single sign-on technology, and
presentations to appeal especially to smaller publishers.

This year's pre-meeting seminars are relevant to the wide range of
