NASIG 26th Annual Conference- Reserve your Hotel Room by 5/5 publicist 14 Apr 2011 13:43 UTC
Hi NASIG Conference Attendees: IMPORTANT: Reserve your hotel rooms before May 5, 2011. Our conference dates are a very busy time in St. Louis, so dont get shut out. May 5th is a HARD deadline for hotel rooms. After that date, NASIG will be unable to help people get rooms as the hotel expects to sell out due to the ball games. The hotel expects to sell out since the Cubs will be in town and will happily take any unfilled rooms in the NASIG hotel block. There will be no last minute "finding rooms" option for people. The Conference Planning Committee (CPC) would like to help you plan your time in St. Louis, so consider the following ideas: Thursday: If you are not taking advantage of our great Preconferences (http://www.nasig.org/conference_preconferences.cfm) , Take in some great sights around our hotel. The St. Louis Arch grounds are 3 blocks away, adjacent to the beautiful riverfront. There are lots of activities around this area: go up in the Arch and experience the fun and beautiful sights, visit the museum in the Arch complex, take a boat ride or just stroll along the riverfront, or take the light rail (AKA MetroLink) out to Forest Park for the many attractions there, including the zoo, museums and parks (http://stlouis.missouri.org/citygov/parks/forestpark/). Dont forget to be back at the hotel in time for the Vendor Expo, which runs from 1:00pm-5:15pm. Learn about the latest developments and products from our sponsors and get some hands on demos. This is a great place to get the latest information. If you are a First Timer, dont miss the First Timers Reception from 4:00pm-5:00pm. Then follow the crowd to the Opening Session. Learn some great facts about St. Louis, hear who our award winners are for the 2011 conference and catch up with old friends. Immediately after the Opening Session, we are heading over the City Museum for a fun filled and yummy opening reception. Friday After an eventful Thursday, get some sleep and be ready to dive into some great education sessions on electronic resources, ERMs, scholarly communication issues, print and digital archiving and other hot topics (http://www.nasig.org/conference_program.cfm). Friday morning enjoy a good breakfast in the hotel and get a good seat for the Vision Session. Follow a jam packed morning of sessions, take a break for lunch and enjoy one of the eateries around the hotel and return for some additional informative meetings. At the close of the sessions on Friday, be ready to put on your baseball cap, grab a hot dog and beverage and watch the Cardinals play ball!! This is an optional event, so dont forget to purchase your tickets before you come to the conference. The stadium is right next to the hotel, so it is easy access and lots of fun. Saturday To burn off that excess energy, join in on the NASIG Fun Run on Saturday morning at 6:30am. Really, we have a good turn out and it is lots of fun! Grab a quick shower and head down to breakfast and more great educational sessions. Saturday evening catch up with friends and enjoy one of the excellent restaurants in St. Louis. There are lots of options (http://www.nasig.org/conference_stlouis.cfm). Sunday Sunday morning, after enjoying a good breakfast and even more educational sessions, join in the closing session for a conference wrap up and information about NASIG 2012. If you are staying on there are many exciting things to do in St. Louis (http://www.nasig.org/conference_stlouis.cfm). Enjoy your time in an exciting and fun city.
