Re: New York Times question - need help van Sickle, Jennifer 15 Dec 2011 17:30 UTC

The NYT was offering greatly reduced individual subscriptions for educators and students. The 20 article a month limit is apparently based on IP address. Our institutional access to the current NYT is via Lexis Nexis and ProQuest.

I am also not aware of an site license for digital NYT.

We were also told that we do not receive digital access with our print subscription (even one-user, username/password access) because we do not have home delivery. We were hoping to at least offer digital access via an iPad that could be checked out from our Periodicals Desk.
My understanding is that a person has free access to up to 20 articles per month via the online site, and after that they are blocked out.

Hi Beverly,

Are you paying for an online subscription? I didn't think the NYT was offering direct site licenses yet.

Our library subscribes to New York Times. We receive a print subscription, but now find the terms of our online access has changed.
As we understand, we will be charged if more than 15 people access online articles per month.

Is anyone else dealing with this issue? What resolution have you found, if any? Or am I completely misunderstanding what NY Times is now doing?
