New Project MUSE Web Interface is Live

Project MUSE's new interface, featuring book and journal content
integrated on a single platform, is up and running at muse.jhu.edu. Over
12,000 scholarly book titles from nearly 70 distinguished university
presses and related publishers can now be located and browsed along with
the content from MUSE's more than 500 respected journals. Further, new
2012 book titles will soon begin appearing on MUSE, simultaneously with
their release in print.

Highlights of the new interface include:
- Faceted searching, with options to filter search results by content type
(book or journal), subject area, author, and language of publication
- Enhanced browsing by subject area, title, or publisher, across books and
journals or filtered by content type
- Search box on each page of the site, with predictive search terms
- New access icons to help users clearly identify content to which they
have paid access, free sample content, and open access content

Until January 31, search results will default to displaying all relevant
results from both books and journals, to encourage discovery of the depth
and breadth of new content now available on MUSE. Users at institutions
which have purchased or subscribed to book collections on MUSE will have
full-text access to content from those collections. Users may choose to
pre-filter searches to just journals or just books, using the drop-down
menu that accompanies the search box on every page. They may also use the
new search facets to filter their search results by content type, and to
only content for which they have full-text access.

Beginning February 1, search results will default to only content to which
the searcher has full-text access. Users will then have the option to
toggle the search to show all available books and journals relevant to a
search, if desired.

MUSE continues to roll out many additional features and tools on the new
site, with frequent updates planned over the next several days and weeks.
Users are encouraged to provide feedback on any issues encountered when
using the new interface. A "Leave Feedback" button appears in the upper
right corner of all search, browse, and informational pages on the site,
or questions may be sent to MUSE Customer Support at muse@press.jhu.edu.

AIP Publishing Unveils New High Profile Cover Design for Its Portfolio
of Journals

Consistent new look brings higher visibility to AIP’s robust suite of
physical science journals

Melville, NY, January 4, 2012 — AIP Publishing, a division of the
American Institute of Physics

(AIP), announces that it will start the New Year with new cover designs
for its portfolio of

leading journals. The coherent new look will give each journal a fresh,
consistent appearance

without altering any of the high-quality content that the physics
community has relied on for

years. It will begin rolling out the new designs in January 2012,
starting with Applied Physics

Letters, Journal of Applied Physics, and The Journal of Chemical
Physics. The roll out will

continue throughout the first quarter of 2012 based on the publishing
cycle of each journal.

"In keeping with the continuing evolution of AIP Publishing as a
distinct, highly visible and

well-respected brand, we're moving into 2012 with a fresh new design
that unites our entire

family of highly cited journals," said Vice President of Publishing John
Haynes.

The new look, which is already familiar to users of the publisher's
online journals, will make

its debut with 2012 print editions of these AIP's journals: Applied
Physics Letters, Chaos,

Journal of Applied Physics, The Journal of Chemical Physics, Journal of
Mathematical Physics,

Journal of Physical and Chemical Reference Data, Low Temperature
Physics, Physics of Fluids,

Physics of Plasmas, and Review of Scientific Instruments. The
online-only journals — AIP

Advances, Biomicrofluidics, Journal of Laser Applications, and Journal
of Renewable and

Sustainable Energy — also feature the same look on their homepages.
