Re: Accucoms??? Simon Boisseau 04 Jul 2012 13:08 UTC

Dear Greg

Accucoms work on behalf of publishers in helping them communicate with
libraries, in their own language and time-zone.

We work on behalf of the publisher and do not contact libraries unless
commissioned to do so – our aim is simply to facilitate that communication,
since some publishers lack the internal resources, or local languages, to do so
directly.

Non-renewal and lapsed subscriber calls, as in this case, are important for
publishers and for libraries as they clarify subscription holdings, enable both
parties to clean their data and provide feedback to help publishers better serve
the needs of libraries. As highlighted in this case there are sometimes instances
where the publisher and library data does not match, and this process helps
both parties to verify the status of a subscription.

As we know communication is key in our industry and our aim is to help all
parties share information and be able to make informed decisions. Apart from
libraries and publishers, we are often in touch with subscription agents, and
even end users to help in this process. Accucoms is owned by Swets Group and
operates as an independent company serving publishers only. This means that
when we work on behalf of a publisher, we contact their customers who
purchase directly or through a/any subscription agent.

We would welcome the opportunity to discuss this in more detail to a wider
audience at NASIG, or any other appropriate conference, but in the meantime
please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further concerns or
questions.

Kind regards

Simon Boisseau
