Subject: Important Brand Changes affecting Continuum, Berg and Bristol
Classical Press
From: Jennifer Howell <Jennifer.Howell@bloomsbury.com>
Date: Mon, 14 Jan 2013 10:55:43 +0000

Dear colleague,

In 2008, Bloomsbury began to build a world-class academic division. Our
portfolio now includes many lists: Continuum, T&T Clark, Berg
Publishers, Methuen Drama, Arden Shakespeare, Bristol Classical Press,
Fairchild Books, AVA, and our home-grown Bloomsbury Academic list. We
publish close to 1,100 high-quality books each year, with a particularly
large presence in the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Visual Arts.

We are pleased to announce that in order to better serve our authors and
customers, we are bringing many of our lists under the global Bloomsbury
brand. As part of our well-known brand, these wide-ranging lists will
gain a global presence, close association with a range of best-selling
and highly-respected books and online platforms, and increased
visibility in the marketplace.

At the same time, many of our acquisitions have long, revered histories.
So we will continue to publish Methuen Drama, Arden Shakespeare and T&T
Clark as imprints under the Bloomsbury umbrella.

The changes are as follows:

 From 1st September 2012:

- Continuum is rebranded as Bloomsbury (under Bloomsbury Academic imprint)

- T&T Clark is co-branded under Bloomsbury (under Bloomsbury T&T Clark
imprint)

 From 1st January 2013:

- Berg Publishers, including journals, is rebranded as Bloomsbury (under
Bloomsbury Academic imprint)

- Bristol Classical Press is rebranded as Bloomsbury (under Bloomsbury
Academic imprint)

- Arden Shakespeare is co-branded under Bloomsbury (under Bloomsbury
Arden Shakespeare imprint)

- Methuen Drama is co-branded under Bloomsbury (under Bloomsbury Methuen
Drama imprint)

What implications does this have for series and standing orders?

Certain series names will change in line with the above. For example
Continuum Discourse will become Bloomsbury Discourse. Where this
happens, books published after 1st September 2012 will be in the
Bloomsbury Discourse series, while books published up to 31st August
2012 will stay in the Continuum Discourse series, though we will move
them over as and when the books are reprinted. Any standing orders will
carry across to the 'new' series.

What happens to my journals subscription?

You will continue to receive print/online subscriptions and renewals in
the same way as at present. You do not have to do anything.

What other changes are there?

In November we launched the academic part of the new Bloomsbury website.
This enables you to see our books, ebooks and digital product
information from one central website, grouped by subject area. It has a
specific area for librarians to learn more about, for example, major
reference works and collections. Note that journals will not join the
company site until early 2013, and will remain on the
www.bergjournals.com site until that point. For more information see
www.bloomsbury.com/academic.

Yours faithfully,

ACCUCOMS Launches User Interaction Program for Elsevier

16 January 2013 | Leiden, Netherlands - From 2013, ACCUCOMS will train
Elsevier users in Turkey as part of a newly launched user interaction
program. The user interaction program trains researchers and librarians
in the use of Elsevier's scholarly tools and solutions, such as
ScienceDirect and Scopus.

In 2013, ACCUCOMS will organize user training sessions on behalf of
Elsevier at more than a hundred libraries and universities in Turkey as
a continuation of Elsevier's training support for universities over the
past years. Training sessions will show researchers how Elsevier's
various tools and solutions can benefit them and their research or studies.

"Since we believe that training existing customers will increase loyalty
and advocacy for our products, face-to-face trainings for our end-users
take precedence over other services," said Gamze Keskin, Customer
Development Manager at Elsevier. "We are very happy to be cooperating
with ACCUCOMS to create further awareness about Elsevier products and
services within the research and library community, train end-users and
stimulate usage. Our main ambition is to maintain the most efficient and
effective user experience to ensure that the contribution of our
solutions is beyond expectation and creates value for research workflows."

"The need for effective user training sessions became apparent to us
through our sales and marketing activities for publishers," said Pinar
Erzin, Managing Director at ACCUCOMS. "Trainings will be conducted by
dedicated trainers for the scientific community, who will also be
trained by Elsevier specialists. They will follow the original business
workflows in order to achieve the most efficient results. We are very
excited about this first user interaction program for Elsevier."

DUKE UNIVERSITY PRESS E-BOOKS WILL MOVE TO HIGHWIRE

Expanded Partnership Will Provide a New Home for the e-Duke Books
Scholarly Collection for a Seamless Research Experience across Books and
Journals

Duke University Press and HighWire Press are pleased to announce a major
expansion of their partnership to include the e-Duke Books Scholarly
Collection. Beginning with the 2014 collection, e-Duke Books, an annual
collection of at least 100 new electronic books published by Duke
University Press as well as more than 1,500 backlist titles, will move
to HighWire’s Open Platform and the newly developed Folio e-book solution.

With the launch of the e-Duke Books Scholarly Collection on HighWire,
Duke University Press’s readers and library subscribers will benefit
from HighWire’s long record of innovation and reliability. The
integrated platform will connect users with content more effectively by
incorporating searching across all of Duke’s publications—not only
e-books but their highly ranked journals as well.

“HighWire has been a fabulous partner for us, ever since we moved our
electronic journals in the humanities and social sciences, including the
e-Duke Journals Scholarly Collections, to their platform in 2005,” said
Steve Cohn, Director of Duke University Press. “Above all, we are very
much looking forward to having our books and our journals on a single
platform, where we can provide a seamless research experience to users
and offer a variety of collections to libraries that include both book
and journal content together. We think that’s the way the world of
scholarly publishing needs to be moving, and we think HighWire will be
the ideal collaborator for helping us move in that direction with
integrity and creativity.”

Key features of the e-Duke Books collection on Folio will include a
device-friendly reading experience, viewable in PDF and mobile-optimized
e-reader formats; toll-free inter-content linked access to cited content
also hosted by HighWire, including journal articles from Duke, Oxford
University Press, and SAGE Publications; and increased content
granularity for better discovery, sharing, and navigating.

“The HighWire Open Platform provides Duke University Press with flexible
options to deliver reader experiences that are appropriate for their
content,” said Tom Rump, Managing Director at HighWire. “Our e-book
solutions enhance the versatility of the platform, offering Duke and
others the opportunity to integrate their multiple content types –
books, journals, figures, data, etc. – in one highly discoverable service.”

All e-Duke Books Scholarly Collection content will be available on the
new platform in December 2013. The current 2013 collection will be
unaffected by this change and will continue to be hosted by ebrary
through the end of this year. Throughout 2013, e-Duke Books customers
will receive frequent communications to ensure a smooth and timely
transition. Additional library transition resources, including a growing
list of FAQs, are now available at
dukeupress.edu/e-duke-books-platform-transition-resources.

For more information about the platform transition, please contact Duke
University Press Customer Service at edukebooks@dukeupress.edu.
