We date stamp out periodicals at Colorado College's Tutt library. I have also found it useful when a periodical has arrived and date stamp but for some reason was not checked in. I think that it helps us keep a more accurate record of when the periodicals arrive, especially for those that are not checked in due to error but date stamped.
