Position Announcements

DATE:        January 21, 1994
POSITION:    Serials Cataloger, Assistant Professor, non-tenure leading.
REPORTS TO:  Project Director, Nebraska Newspaper Project

Now hiring for two positions for the period March 1994 through December
1996.

These positions are funded through a grant from the National Endowment
for the Humanities.

DUTIES:   1) Perform original cataloging of print and non-print newspaper
titles.  2) Enhance member copy cataloging.  3) Provide Library Assistant
II with information requiring professional expertise to facilitate copy
cataloging.  4) Participate in OCLC union list project.  5) Maintain
statistics.  6) Participate in the design and implementation of
bibliographic control procedures as required.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required:  MLS from an ALA-accredited library school.
Candidates who will receive their degree as of 1 June 1994 will be
considered eligible.  Must be dependable and have the ability to work well
with others.   Preferred:  Working knowledge of AACR2 Rev. and USMARC
bibliographic formats; one or more foreign languages (Czech, German,
Swedish particularly of interest); OCLC cataloging or searching experience;
experience cataloging with INNOPAC or another integrated library system.

SALARY:   Salary $24,500 for the first year.  Annual salary increases
guaranteed for satisfactory performance.

STARTING DATE: March 15, 1994 preferred.
