Job Number: 101844 Series: SSM 1 Organization: Los Alamos National Laboratory Research Library, CIC-14 Job Title: LIBRARIAN 2 Salary Range: ($31,908 to $52,020) Closing Date: May 27, 1994 (LIMITED TERM 2 YEAR POSITION) The Los Alamos National Laboratory Research Library is currently seeking a Serials Collection Coordinator. Responsible for management and total operational serials activities while serving as resource person for journal and standing order cataloging and holdings questions within the Library. Responsible for policy development, budget oversight and ongoing communication with relevant vendors. Initiate policies and procedures for accessing, cataloging and archiving electronic journals. Work with serials collection development staff in collection evaluation. Coordinate journal and standing order activities including ordering, acquisitions, receiving, cataloging, claiming and maintaining online holdings records; managing the use of the Geac Advance serials, cataloging and acquisitions modules for these materials. Lead binding activities for the journal collection. Provide leadership for team staff. Participate in serials conversion and special projects as needed. Must have a positive, dynamic, courteous, and proactive public image with the ability to work well with patrons and staff. Required Skills, Knowledge, Abilities Significant professional-level Technical Services experience in a scientific, technical or academic library required. Recent professional level serials cataloging experience using AACR2, LCSH, LC classification and MARC formats required. Experience using RLIN or other major bibliographic utility required. Experience using Geac Advance or similar automated library system required. Strong service orientation and demonstrated effective oral and interpersonal skills required. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the team environment required. Desired Skills, Knowledge, Abilities Experience with serials conversion, data conversion, and data migration highly desirable. Experience analyzing and interpreting complex technical data to analyze and solve problems highly desirable. Experience with automated serials management, setting up publication patterns, and defining serials workflows highly desirable. Experience writing contracts for Library acquisitions and dealing with relevant vendors desired. Training for and participation on Continuous Quality Improvement team desired. Experience in managing projects desired. Education, Training, or Licensing M.L.S from ALA-accredited library school or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
