LITA/ALCTS MARC Format for Holdings Interest Group
ALA Annual Meeting

DATE:  Saturday, June 25, 1994
TIME:  2 - 4 PM
PLACE: Marriott Biscayne Bay Hotel -- Hibiscus Island Room

The purpose of the MARC Holdings Interest Group is to provide a
forum to educate the library community on the MARC Holdings Format,
its purpose, use, development, and implementation.

This meeting will address the development aspect:  what changes to
the US MARC Format for Holdings would you like to propose?

MARBI activities in Miami will be reviewed with a discussion of
topics before MARBI:  accommodating non-Internet resources, field
link and sequence information (in the bibliographic format, but $8
also appears in the holdings format), and the component item entry
field (a new field in the bibliographic record to describe parts of
an item).

There will be a business meeting to discuss topics for future
meetings, and an election will be held for the position of Vice
Chair/Chair Elect.
