Subject: CSISAC Information Regarding Z39_56 Listserv

To CSISAC Members and Other Interested Parties

The public Z39_56 Listserv on the topic of revising ANSI/NISO Z39_56-1991
is now up and running. The following are the instructions for subscribing
and using the list. The general purpose of this list is both to facilitate
communication from the NISO subcommittee to our commmunity and to elicit
suggestions and comments from the community on this important standard.

The list is open to all responsible readers and correspondents, but it
is a moderated list and the chair of the committee acts as moderator. At
this time The Faxon Company who acts as listserv host does not provide
retrivable archived files of past mailserver messages. However, if we
implement such a facility, I will post an announcement on the list.

To subscribe to "Z39_56"

1. Send an e-mail message to mailserv@faxon.com Please note the spelling
"mailserv" not "listserv", and that there is no "e" on the end of
mailserv.

2.      The first line of the message should read:
        "subscribe Z39_56   <your personal name>

3.  Leave the subject line blank

4. Within a few minutes (usually) you should receive a confirmation from
the Faxon mailserver that you have been added to the list, and within a
few more minutes you should receive a welcome message. That's it.

To send a query or message to the list:

1. Send your message to the Internet address:   Z39_56@faxon.com

2. The message will be released to the list unless the moderator
   feels that it is inappropriate to do so. In this case, the messasge
   will be bounced back with questions or explanations

activities of SISAC and ICEDIS.
