Sims Memorial Library of Southeastern Louisiana University seeks applications for a unit head position within the Cataloging Department. The Head of the NOTIS Activities Group, under the general supervision of the department head, supervises two paraprofessionals in the ordering, receiving, and copy cataloging of new materials in all formats except music scores and music recordings; performs original cataloging of monographs and serials using OCLC and the library's local NOTIS system; and contributes to the development of workflows and local cataloging and authorities policies. May coordingate (coordinate) outsourcing of some library materials. Works closely with the Serials and Bookeeping departments to insure accuracy in holdings maintenance and invoicing. May supervise serials retrospective conversion project. Serves as library liaison to one or more academic departments; may have the opportunity to teach bibliographic instruction classes. Serves on library committees and task forces as assigned. All library faculty and staff serve on the public information desk. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: ALA-MLS; two years' cataloging experience, with at least one year at the professional level; experience with nonprint media; supervisory experience; experience with OCLC or other bibliographic utility. PREFERRED: Experience with NOTIS; knowledge of one or more modern European languages; serials cataloging experience. SALARY/BENEFITS: $26,000-$28,000, depending on qualifications and experience. 12-month, tenure track appointment. SLU librarians have faculty rank, status, privileges, and responsibilities.
