GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:
This institute seeks to put forward a clear understanding of the
creation, interpretation, content, format and uses of serials cataloging
records.  Using both lecture and hands-on formats, the faculty will help
participants:
   review cataloging rules and principles
   understand standards for the bibliographic control of serials
   garner insights into the opportunity for sharing and exchanging records
   explore the interrelationships of the serials catlaoging record with
other library functions
   consider uses of the serials cataloging record for patron access,
union listing, ILL, collection management and development

AUDIENCE
Beginning and experienced technical services, systems and public services
librarians, and library educators concerned with the creation and uses of
serials catlaoging records.
