                          POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

    REFERENCE/INSTRUCTION LIBRARIAN, (New Position)  Muhlenberg College
    in Allentown, PA, is seeking qualified applicants for the position
    of Reference/Instruction Librarian with an emphasis on humanities.
    An administrative position, permanent, 12-month, full-time,
    reporting to the Deputy Library Director/Head of Reference.
    Principle duties include responsibility for providing reference
    services and user instruction including scheduled evening and
    weekend hours, bibliographic instruction, database searching,
    collection development and liaison with faculty.

    REQUIRED:  MLS from an ALA-accredited institution; reference or BI
    experience in an academic institution;  knowledge of database
    searching, CD-ROMs and other electronic resources including the
    Internet; demonstrated ability to communicate well orally and in
    writing; strong public service orientation; ability to work in a
    team environment.

    PREFERRED:  Advanced degree in a humanities discipline; 2 years
    post-MLS experience in reference, bibliographic instruction,
    and/or collection development; demonstrated experience in
    developing user education programs and reading knowledge of at
    least one foreign language.
