         ANNOUNCEMENT OF PROFESSIONAL OPENING - SEARCH EXTENDED

POSITION: Library seeks progressive TECHNICAL SERVICES LIBRARIAN with a
   keen interest in applying emerging technologies and standards to new
   and traditional practices in acquisitions, bibliographic control, and
   access. This is a full time, tenure track appointment in a bargaining
   unit.

SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Assistant
   Professor, $31,000 minimum.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in the coordination and performance of operations
   in cataloging, serials, and acquisitions in a newly integrated technical
   services department in transition to DRA. Perform and direct serials
   cataloging, authority control, maintenance, and other serials functions.
   Participate as a member of a team to redesign workflow and plan the
   implementation of DRA as part of the ILCSO consortium. Serve as a
   bibliographer and faculty liaison in an assigned subject area.

QUALIFICATIONS: ALA accredited MLS and second master's degree required.
   Broad background in technical services with some cataloging experience
   required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
   Experience with automated library systems required. Knowledge of general
   microcomputer hardware/software, library applications software, the
   Internet, and emerging technologies strongly preferred; interest required.
   Training experience strongly preferred.

CAMPUS AND COMMUNITY: Northeastern is a state-supported institution
   located on the north side of Chicago. It has a culturally diverse
   enrollment of over 10,000 students. The library maintains a collection
   of over 650,000 volumes.
