Waite <IWAITE@SHADOW.SJCSF.EDU> Subject: Job Announcement - Santa Fe The following position is available at St. John's College - Santa Fe: JOB TITLE: Associate Librarian for Acquisitions & Serials NATURE OF DUTIES: Develops procedures, makes policy recommendations and controls the operation of acquisitions and fiscal services. Manages serials collection, including ordering, receiving, maintaining, storing and organizing current serials and serial records, and advising on selections and withdrawals. Responsible for vendor relations and correspondence, claims, billing, statistics, and financial reports. Provides interlibrary loan services through bibliographic resources, direct contact and appropriate databases and services to verify, locate and obtain monograph and serial requests. Maintains College archive files and oversees binding and book repair. Supervises office staff including hiring, training, and scheduling; evaluates acquisitions and fiscal management software; analyzes and solves problems; plans at the program and project level; and performs related duties as required. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: The Associate Librarian for Acquisitions and Serials is an experienced professional who designs, promotes, implements, and administers acquisitions, fiscal services, serials and interlibrary loan. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Head Librarian. SUPERVISION GIVEN: Supervises office assistants. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Masters Degree in one of the Humanities, or a Masters Degree in Library Science. Two years of library management experience and library automation experience. Two years of supervisory experience including one year of project management experience. Demonstrated management, supervisory, planning, fiscal, human relation and interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to maintain an effective working relationship with all members of the college community. Interest and willingness to participate in ongoing professional training and development. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Broad liberal arts education or completion of the St. John's College program. Knowledge of a foreign language. Familiarity with DOS. STATUS: Exempt, full-time. COMPENSATION: $22,318 (min.) to $26,395 (mid) annually, with an excellent benefits package.
