                Assistant Acquisitions Librarian

                   Youngstown State University

     The Assistant Acquisitions Librarian performs general
acquisitions duties: assists in organizing, supervising, and
coordinating bibliographic searches performed by support staff;
conducts complex searches; operates and trains staff on OCLC,
Innovative Interfaces and OhioLINK terminals; assists in
monitoring book allocation expenditures; assists in supervising
the preparation of materials for commercial binding.  Supervises
the Acquisitions Section in the absence of the Acquisitions
Librarian.

     Youngstown State University is an excellent state-assisted
urban, primarily non-residential institution of higher education
with an enrollment of approximately 13,300 students in a wide
variety of programs, offering associate, undergraduate and
masters degrees as well as a doctorate. It includes six colleges:
the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Business
Administration, the College of Education, the College of
Engineering and Technology, the College of Fine and Performing
Arts, the College of Health and Human Services; and the School of
Graduate Studies. The University is progressive with dynamic
leadership committed to quality in teaching, scholarship, and
service to its metropolitan region. The compact, attractively
landscaped campus, is located in the Youngstown metropolitan area
which is located approximately half-way between Pittsburgh and
Cleveland.

     A Masters degree in Library Science and academic library
experience are required.  A second language is desired.

     Initial annual 12 month salary:  $22,100 - $26,830 plus
excellent benefits.
